About this Event




Sensory Modulation strategies are very useful for practitioners in Mental Health including Occupational Therapists, Social Workers , Nurses, Psychologists and Psychiatrists. Sensory Modulation involves using sensory input to change the way that a person is feeling. This can include :

  • calming or soothing sensory input
  • grounding sensory input
  • crisis kits and strategies
  • turning down sensory input
  • winding down for sleep
  • This workshop will provide an introduction to Using Sensory Modulation. Participants will learn Sensory Modulation strategies for anxiety, anger, dissociation and sleeping. Many of the sensory items used are able to be low budget eg a bag of rice, ice pack and other common household items.

    • Opportunity for Zoom session and supervision after the workshop (additional cost).

    This workshop will provide 5 CPD hours.

    The course can be started at any time and watched at your convenience for the next 12 months. It appears on eventbrite as a daily course as there is not an option for an event that can start at any time. Your ticket will have a code on it that can start as soon as you click the link, put in the code and your details.

    Trainers:

    • Training will be conducted by Carolyn Fitzgibbon and Julie O’Sullivan. Carolyn & Julie are two experienced OTs who have worked together for many years & share considerable knowledge and practical experience in the implementation of sensory modulation and sensory approaches, at both direct client and service development levels. Together Carolyn & Julie have conducted a number of webinars & workshops for mental health districts & on behalf of OT Australia regarding sensory modulation and the integration of sensory approaches into service delivery. Carolyn and Julie have co-authored the Sensory Modulation Resource Manual.
