Hi budding Stoics,
NOTE: In response to COVID-19, we have shifted all meetings to online delivery. Further details are below.
We're meeting to discuss Stoic philosophy, its application and using it to deal with the ups and downs of life.
Further discussion will be centred around our current readings, available through the following link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1647hfgurutG4lehhObKqwUT-FffuXNm0ajK3Fb-31mI/
Please connect to Zoom here.
The discussions will be hosted per our usual face-to-face schedule (10:00am, every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the Month). Info on the next meet can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1647hfgurutG4lehhObKqwUT-FffuXNm0ajK3Fb-31mI/
For more information, please contact the organisers either here on Meetup.
CONTRIBUTIONS TO STOA
For those who would like to continue to contribute to the cost of running the Stoa may do so through PayPal here: [pending]
We’d obviously appreciate fortnightly e-contributions in lieu of gold coins during this pandemic. These contributions are voluntary but appreciated — they make services like the Meetup possible.
FOR THOSE NEW TO STOICISM
New faces are always welcome. Don't stress if you're new to Stoicism or if you haven't read the readings. We mainly use the readings to facilitate discussion, and you can participate in the discussion as little or as much as you like.
This is an uncertain time and we appreciate your patience as we experiment with online meets. The virtues of justice and courage are more important than ever — this is an opportunity to practice much the things we’ve previously discussed, but especially the Stoics’ call to live in service of humanity as a whole.
‘Watch over human beings. Our lives are short. The only rewards of our existence here are an unstained character and unselfish acts.”
We look forward to seeing you. :)
Disclaimer: Due to the current uncertainty regarding coronavirus, please contact the event organiser directly via the contact details on the listing if you are unsure.
