Respectful Relationships Bystander Training - Secondary Schools Session

  • Wed 10th Jun 2020
  • 109 Armstrong St N, Ballarat Central VIC 3350

Bystander training

This session will help schools to promote positive student behaviour, a safe and inclusive environment, prevent bullying and anti-social behaviour and encourage respect, compassion and cooperation.

Bullying can and other forms of negative behaviour can have dramatic effects on the health and wellbeing of students and their school communities.

Our attitudes to diversity are formed in our school years, this is a key time for supporting students to have positive attitudes and skills to address bullying and other forms of negative behaviour towards others.

This session helps teachers to promote pro-active, positive bystander responses to any form of negative behaviours. The aim is to equip students and staff with the best ways of speaking out against bullying and abuse when we see it, and of supporting those who are targeted during such events.

This workshop will provide teachers in RR schools with an understanding of what it means for students to be a positive bystander. The session will cover key themes and concepts from the MATE Student Bystander framework:
