Ray Ray's Kitchen Cooking Classes

Ray Ray's Kitchen aims to give NDIS participants the valuable skills they need to cook healthy, affordable meals and to disprove the narrative that healthy eating is difficult and/or expensive.

Workshops are held twice weekly (Tuesdays from 12:30-3:30 and Fridays from 11:30-2:30) at the Healthy Living Precinct in Welland where Ray assists participants to prepare ingredients and organise equipment for the recipe they are following, clean as they go, and learn kitchen safety procedures. By the end of the class, participants can be proud of the beautiful meal and dessert that they have created and take it home to share with loved ones.

The budding chefs are encouraged to eat together, providing a wonderful opportunity to connect and chat over the food they have created and build social skills in a comfortable, supported environment. The menu (designed and planned by Ray) changes weekly so that regular clients can grow their repertoire of culinary skills and take home leftover food and the printed recipes to try whenever they like.

It's important to us that the class is kept small so that Ray's valuable knowledge and attention can be imparted to participants with ease, so there are only 5 spots in each workshop...but a third weekly class may open up in future to accomodate this growing community!

Each workshop is $150 and goes for 3 hours, which is claimed from CORE- ITEM CODE: 04_210_0125_6_1 - Community, Social and Recreational Activities Each N/A- $50 per hour and will be invoiced to each participant's plan manager after attending. When booking, support coordinators must confirm that there is sufficient CORE funding to cover the cost of the workshop and whether the participant has high or low support needs in a kitchen environment so that they can be assigned to either the Tuesday (high kitchen support needs) or Friday (low kitchen support needs) class. Full name, NDIS number and contact details of their plan manager must also be provided for billing purposes.

Unfortunately there is no walker or wheelchair access at this stage due to the limitations of the facility. Each participant must have a support worker to accompany and support them through the cooking class (no charge for support workers).

Late cancellation charges apply in cases of less than 48h notice.
