Nilpena Ediacara Fossil Tour 2024 EOI

See and learn about the first forms of animal life on earth. The Ediacaran fossils were deposited in a shallow sea in what is now the North Flinders Ranges. They were deposited about 560 million years ago and not discovered until the 1940s by geologist Reg Sprigg. Subsequently the Fossil beds were investigated by the South Australian Museum and the University of California Davis. We will be able to view these fossils and their evolution with a guided tour of Nilpena Station and the Ediacara National Park. We will be based at Parachilna in the Prairie Hotel and the Parachilna Community Campground. Choose your accommodation; Bed & Breakfast at the Prairie Hotel, or camp suitable for vans, trailers and tents. On arrival we will have Happy Hour before a Camp Oven Dinner at the Hotel. Day 2 after breakfast we drive to Nilpena Station to be picked up by a 4WD bus for our guided tour. In the evening we will have a Fera banquet at the Hotel.
