SAFEMinds is a professional learning and resource package for schools and families that aims to:

 Enhance early intervention mental health support for children and young people in schools; specifically regarding mild mood disorders and self-harm.

 Increase engagement of parents and carers with schools to support their child’s mental health more effectively; and

SAFEMinds: In Practice participants will;

• Develop an understanding of mental health in children and young people and how they are supported through SAFEMinds and the NIP it in the bud! early intervention approach.

• Develop an understanding of self harm in schools, children and young people and how to respond using the NIP it in the bud! early intervention approach.

• Be introduced to the NIP it in the bud! Toolkit, including the Safe and Healthy Bodies and Safe and Healthy Minds Brief Intervention Kits and explore the toolkit with a case study from SAFEMinds Online.

• Have an opportunity to use the entire NIP it in the bud! early intervention approach and Toolkit resources through a new case study.

• Reflect on local implementation of the NIP it in the bud! early intervention approach in your school community and develop an understanding of SAFEMinds: At Home resources for families.
