Tascal WINTER BALL WEEKEND 2024

Dance Scottish! Dance Global! Together

Tascal Winter Ball Weekend 2024 with musicians Chris Duncan and Catherine Strutt. This is our dancing highlight of the year as we join together with our many friends. Let's dance global this year. Many of our dance favourites are devised by people from all over the world for so many reasons - celebrating a person, a place or a moment. There's dances from Scotland too of course!

On Friday evening, see the lights of Hobart during an evening cruise on the River Derwent or walk through some of the dances for Saturday evening's ball at St George's Church Hall, Battery Point before joining together for a heart warming supper.

Saturday evening is the gala event in the beautiful historic Hobart Town Hall ballroom beginning with the Grand March led by piper Geoff Jones, then dance global with Chris and Catherine's vibrant music.

On Sunday, bring friends and family to our picnic lunch and dance with Chris and Catherine and other musicians at the Richmond Town hall in historic Richmond village.

Dates
Friday 6 September 2024 - Sunday 8 September 2024 (UTC+11)

Saturday, 7 September, 2024 - Winter Ball

Hobart Town Hall (Winter Ball)
50 Macquarie Street, Hobart Tasmania 7000

Last year we celebrated the centenary of the foundation of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. From its early years, the Society's passion spread around the world, and dances written by overseas dancers gradually were included in RSCDS publications. Scottish country dancing became truly global, reflecting a common dance language with local relevance.

This year, we recognise many overseas devisors as we dance our way around the world. Our musicians, Chris Duncan and Catherine Strutt play with non-stop energy, inviting us to dance with passion and joy.

Gather in Hobart's elegant historic Town Hall at 7pm to meet friends and enjoy a friendly drink. The Grand March begins at 7.30pm led by piper Geoff Jones, then we dance the night away. Enjoy a delectibly sumptuous supper during the evening.

Tickets: Adult $55.00, 16 years & under $25.00, Spectators $30.00
