The foundations day is recommended all nurses who may care for children with cancer and their families. The day provides an overview of common paediatric oncology conditions, various treatment modalities and side effects. Supportive car in nursing practice and the psychosocial impact of cancer are also discussed.
COURSE CONTENT:
- Common childhood cancers: Leukaemia, solid tumours and central nervous systems tumours
- Managing febrile neutropenia
- CVAD management
- Common clinical scenarios in paediatric oncology and the role of the nurse
