IRKRS Yamaneryu Kobudo Australia National Seminar 2024

About

From 9-11 August 2024, IRKRS Oshiroha Yamaneryu Kobudo Australia will host a 3-day National Seminar in Canberra, open to all members of YRK Australia, AFTK members, and any enthusiastic kobudoka (or karateka) who wishes to learn more about kobudo.

Each session will cover a different topic, and throughout the entire weekend a variety of weapons - including the bo, sai, nunchaku, kama, tonfa, tinbe rochin, eku, tekko, tanbo and knife - will be covered. All skills and grades are welcome, and sessions will be divided by skill when necessary.

The Yamaneryu Kobudo taught will be taught as per the teachings of Hanshi Patrick McCarthy. Shihan Bill Johansen will be the lead instructor for the seminar.

Schedule

  • Friday 9 August - (1) 9:00am - 12:30pm | (2) 1:30pm - 5:00pm
  • Saturday 10 August - (3) 9:00am - 12:30pm | (4) 1:30pm - 5:00pm
  • Sunday 11 August - (5) 9:00am - 12:30pm

Students can attend the whole weekend ($200) or individual sessions ($50 per session). A light lunch (subway sandwiches) will be provided for attendees on Friday and Saturday if both morning and afternoon sessions are registered for.

There will be an 'in-house' dinner on Friday (BBQ or Pizza) at the dojo after the afternoon session. There will also be a dinner (at participant's expense) on Saturday at a venue TBC. There is also a cafe next door that you can get coffee, lunch, etc, from on Friday and Saturday (closed Sunday).

Yamaneryu Kobudo Yudansha (Black Belts) will be in attendance to assist throughout the seminar, along with instructors, including:

Accommodation & Travel

The Cummings Karate Dojo is located a 5-minute walk from the Flemington Rd Light Rail Stop. Any accommodation along the light rail route will get you to the dojo within 20 minutes.
