For over 40 years, the RSCM WA Choir Camp has been a cherished tradition. This year, we’re excited to host a 3-day non-residential camp in the convenient location of Mount Lawley, WA.

Tickets are fully refundable (minus booking fee) should the participant be unwell on the day of the camp.

What to Expect:

  • Choir: Participants will form a 3 or 4-part choir (SAB / SATB). Under the guidance of our talented musical director, Alessandro Pittorino (from the renowned Juilliard School), we’ll learn and sing beautiful music together.
  • Fun Activities: Beyond singing, we’ll engage in fun activities such as art, sport, and drama.
  • Musical training: Participants will receive valuable musicianship training through the Chorister Training Scheme, Voice for Life, an international training program developed in the United Kingdom. The scheme has several levels, and participants are awarded a badge or medal as they pass each level.
  • Evening Sessions: For those aged 13-18, we offer optional evening sessions from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 3rd, and Thursday, July 4th. During these sessions, we’ll enjoy dinner and either watch a movie or play games.

Musical Styles:

We’ll explore a rich variety of Church music styles, including traditional, contemporary, and gospel. Our repertoire promises to be both uplifting and diverse.

Meet Our Staff:

  • Musical Director: Alessandro Pittorino (Juilliard School) – Accomplished organist and conductor.
  • Accompanist: Sarah Mills Menogue (B.Mus, AdvGradDip Kodály Institute) – A talented teacher, conductor, and pianist.
  • Voice for Life Examiner: Ruth Styles (AMusA) – A dedicated music teacher, RSCM WA committee member, and skilled organist.
  • Additional Staff: Our team includes experienced teachers, parents, and musicians. Rest assured, all staff members have undergone working with children checks.

What to Bring:

  • Attire: Dress comfortably in warm clothing.
  • Essentials: Don’t forget your water bottle and a pencil.
  • We’ve Got You Covered: We’ll provide all the music, activities, and delicious food.

Parents Welcome:

On the final day, we’ll hold a short service. Parents and guardians are invited to join us at 4:30 pm on Friday as we showcase the pieces we’ve learned. While parents are welcome during this time, we kindly request that they do not stay throughout the camp as all adults on camp are required to have a Working with Children Check.

Bring Your Siblings and Friends:

Our camp fosters a warm and family-friendly atmosphere. Feel free to bring along your siblings and friends – the more, the merrier!

What is the RSCM WA?
The Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) is an interdenominational association dedicated to improving Church music, regardless of style. The RSCM originated in the UK in 1927 and there are now branches all over the world. The Western Australian branch (RSCM WA) was formed in 1956 and is part of RSCM Australia. https://rscmaustralia.org.au/state-branches/western-australia/

Do I need to be Christian?
No!

The RSCM WA has an inclusive approach and welcomes participants from all backgrounds. You do not need to be Christian to enjoy singing Church music. Our repertoire is diverse and of high quality. As an ecumenical organization, we embrace individuals from various Christian denominations and faiths.

I / my child can't read music. Is that ok?

Don’t worry if you or your child can’t read music! We accommodate participants at all levels of musical ability. Our experienced staff members can sit alongside newcomers to reading music. Additionally, our choir sections are based on voice parts rather than age, allowing older participants to assist younger ones. Whether you’re accustomed to singing in a primary school choir or an all-boys/girls high school choir, the experience of singing in a 3 or 4-part choir is truly rewarding.

Cost: $140.00 - $170.00
