Dobell Dyed and Stitched - Textile Landscape

Create a Dobell inspired landscape using Shibori dying techniques overlaid with simple Boro stitching.

Workshop Details:

In a fun, relaxed environment create a Dobell inspired landscape using Shibori dying techniques overlaid with simple Boro stitching. You will create a 16cm x 16cm textile artwork that you can frame or later incorporate into other projects such as a bag or cushion.

Please feel free to bring fabric offcuts / scraps that can be used in your small landscape.

You may also bring:

  • embroidery threads
  • pre-loved woven fabric suitable for dying e.g. linen top, old pillowcase

Date: Saturday, June 29th 10 am – 4 pm (includes 1 hour break)

Tickets:

$65 plus booking fees & charges

About the tutors

Amanda Donohue: member of the Newcastle Printmakers Workshop and printmaker for over 20 years, has a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) from Sydney College of the Arts and a Graduate Certificate in Cross Disciplinary Art and Design from COFA, University of NSW.

Felicity Chadwick: Fashion, Design and Textiles educator with 30+ years experience has a Bachelor of Education, Fashion qualifications as well as a Masters in Cross Disciplinary Art and Design from COFA, University of NSW.

Location: The Toronto Community Hub is a purpose-built, volunteer run community space where people of all ages meet to enjoy various activities and events. The Hub regularly hosts Tai Chi, computer tuition, gardening club and a range of workshops with a creative or environmental focus.
