Join a community planting event to help a rural landholder in Wildwood to create more bird habitat on their property.

Conserving Our Rural Environment

Hume City Council supports eligible landholders to look after the natural environment on their properties through Rural Engagement Program, including Conserving Our Rural Environment grants. This community planting event is seeking people to help plant and guard 400 indigenous trees and shrubs on a rural property, which will grow to become homes for many birds and other native wildlife.

What's provided

  • Gloves.
  • Sunscreen.
  • All the planting tools and materials.
  • Drinking water, tea and coffee.
  • Simple BBQ lunch and fruit snacks.
  • Hard copies of the Birds of Hume and Fauna of Hume will be available at the event, or find digital versions at Discover Nature in Hume.

What to bring

  • Wear weather-appropriate clothing and bring a rain/wind-proof jacket.
  • Wear safe, fully-enclosed walking shoes.
  • Bring your own reusable drink bottle.

Greening 2024

Come along to Council's community planting events with family and friends.

  • Help revegetate our shared open green spaces.
  • The events focus on local biodiversity issues.
  • There will be other fun stuff happening and food.
  • It's free and all materials/equipment are provided!

These events are family-friendly and child-safe, however children will need to be under the direct supervision of their parents or guardians.
