Session 1 - May 22nd

VET, SWL, SBAT AND HEADSTART- WHAT DO THEY ALL MEAN? Presented by SELLEN (SOUTH EAST LOCAL LEARNING & EMPLOYMENT NETWORK

Connecting with employers whilst still at school, is a crucial step to building strong pathways and connections for a brighter future. It will help build employability skills, gain knowledge through specialised training, enhance practical experience and provide a valuable advantage when looking for employment opportunities. There are a few ways to do this -

  • Undertake a VET (Vocational Education and Training) qualification with a practical work placement - all whilst completing a VCE or VCE Vocational Major!
  • Do a School based Apprenticeship AND complete a year 12 qualification at the same time
  • Use your work placement to lead into casual or part time employment.

Parents, caregivers and students are welcome to come and meet with the team from SELLEN and Headstart who will explain the importance of connecting with employers and help navigate the VET offerings in the region.

Session 2 - May 29th

Industry insiders- Special guest speakers from the Construction, Manufacturing and Health industries with Q and A.

Session 3 - June 5th

At 15-24 years old you may start looking at alternative possibilities outside of Secondary School.

This could be alternative studies, finding your first casual or part-time job or moving into career pathways you are passionate about.

The real struggle... 'Where do I start?'

Meet the Community Engagement Team from ASURIA at Pakenham Library for Session 3 on June 5th 2024 to discover what supports you have available in taking your next steps into employment.
