Advanced Weaving Workshop 1: Circular Weaving!

Join teacher Sarah Dally from pickles goes to market for a stimulating and enjoyable afternoon, building on your basic weaving skills, learning to weave in the round! Discover the contentment in adding to your weaving skill-set, by designing and making a piece your very own, whilst reducing your impact on the environment.

Time: 2pm – 5pm

Location: The Nest Community, The Sheds, 264 South Pine Road, Brendale, QLD 4500

During this in-person event, your experienced instructor will guide you through the basics of the stitches and techniques used to transform a tapestry hoop and string into a fabulous contemporary wall hanging. You will leave with either a complete, or a great start to a piece you have designed yourself!

This workshop is designed to cater to new to intermediate beginner levels, building on the skills learned in my beginner workshop. This means this workshop is not suitable for beginners. Everyone will leave with the skills and confidence to create many more new circular pieces at home, with some inspiration to even advance to more abstract designs.

By attending this event, you'll not only learn a new way to weave, but also be able to continue lowering your carbon footprint at home: don’t buy an expensive (or plastic) loom: make a re-useable one with a wood tapestry hoop! Say goodbye to those scrappy remnant yarn balls, learn to upcycle fabric (other materials) into yarn and say hello to a more sustainable future!

Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to learn a this new technique, meet like-minded individuals, and make a positive impact on the environment. Secure your spot now!

What you will learn:

· Learn techniques for creating both standard and asymmetrical pieces

· Learn how to make & warp up embroidery hoop for (both ways)

· Learn the ‘principles and elements of design’, to design your own piece

· Learn how to ‘split’ and ‘un-split’ warps
