West Australian Seabird Rescue

Formed in 2003, WA Seabird Rescue is a network of seabird and waterbird rescuers based in coastal south-western Australia. They are entirely volunteer operated with their main areas of activity being Perth, Mandurah and Albany although they endeavour to rescue any bird in distress across WA.

Every year they rescue and rehabilitate hundreds of waterbirds such as herons, swans and ducks, and a huge variety of seabirds including pelicans, cormorants, shearwaters, penguins and albatrosses.

Most of the coastal seabirds like pelicans and cormorants they deal with are entangled in fishing line and hooks but also include traffic accidents, duckling relocations and response to botulism outbreaks and oil spills.
