Introductory Printmaking - Lino printing.

Soak up the creative atmosphere of a working artists studio and join the studio community of makers. Work under the tutorage of artist Carys Martin to learn the techniques and tricks to printmaking and to explore the different surface decoration options. Join Carys in the studio on Sunday 14th July 9:30am - 12, to create your own lino print. This workshop is an introduction to lino carving, using modern materials to make your very own carved plate and to explore the possibilities of print making. You will learn how to plan and carve your own lino block using one of Carys's templates or your own design and learn how to make a print from the block. During the workshop you will experiment with different printing techniques and different types of papers. You will be printing using black ink on white paper and handmade papers. Carys will have a number of templates of designs to use or you can bring your own simple image. You will create prints from your plate using the printing press and hand printing techniques. You will leave the workshop with your own printing block and a number of prints of your design. Please bring some inspiration images or sketches that you would like to make into a print. No experience necessary.
