Why do some of us like to read horror stories? And how does a writer put the scare factor into a story? Join horror writer Mike Lucas as he talks about his craft and the tools horror writers use to evoke the fear, terror and suspense that defines the genre. From Mary Shelley to Stephen King learn about its history, its themes and how you can create your own tale that will have the reader on the edge of their seat wondering what’s hiding in the shadows.

Mike Lucas’s second supernatural YA thriller ‘One by One They Disappear’ released May 2024 and his first YA novel ‘What We All Saw' published in 2022 and CBCA book of the Year award 2023 and the Prime Minister’s Literary award 2023, along with several picture books.
