2024 Family Law Advocacy Workshop

The Piddington Society is hosting a family law advocacy CPD workshop, bringing together experienced advocates and judicial officers.
Led by Rachel Oakeley (John Toohey Chambers), this day-long workshop follows four clear steps: hear, see, do, reflect. Hear the principles of advocacy, see and review advocacy in action, practice your own advocacy with the support of the coaches and reflect upon what you learn across the day with your colleagues.
Ms Oakeley will be joined by highly-regarded family law advocates who will lead small groups as coaches throughout the day.
Participant numbers are strictly capped, please book early.
The workshop concludes with a presentation by the Hon Justice Rick O'Brien (Family Court of Western Australia).
Coaches include:
Magistrate Jane Johnson
Teresa Farmer SC
The Hon Simon Moncrieff SC
Julia Mansfield
Alan Moroni
With more to be announced
After consultation with family lawyers about how Piddington can better support you, we heard that courtroom advocacy can be daunting and difficult.
In this fun and inclusive session, practitioners will be given a case study to prepare for, assess different advocacy techniques and consider ethical issues that arise.
With thanks to her Honour Judge Julie Wager, Chief Judge of the District Court of Western Australia, this session will be held in the courtrooms of the District Court of Western Australia.
Attendees will be eligible for 5 CPD points.

Note:

Practitioner ID numbers are issued by the Legal Practice Board of Western Australia. Information from the Board is available here. We require these to issue CPD certificates. If you do not want a CPD certificate, please put '00000' in the box on the booking form.
