History of Dairying at Gulf Station - Member Exclusive Walk & Talk

Enjoy a tour of Gulf Station Homestead and outbuildings, learn about the history of dairy at the property and watch butter being made.

In the mid 1800's, Gulf Station was home to an Ayrshire dairy cattle stud and the resident Bell family were responsible for milking up to 100 cows twice a day to produce milk, cheese and cream for their own use and for sale locally.

The extension of a nearby steam train line in 1888 allowed the Bell's to transport their dairy goods to Melbourne to capitalise on a growing market.

Enjoy a tour of Gulf Station Homestead and outbuildings, learn about the history of dairy at the property and watch butter being made using a traditional butter churn.

A National Trust Member exclusive event. Pre-bookings are required to avoid disappointment.
