How does a writer become a journalist? What makes the news worth reading? In this fun workshop learn how to investigate, interview, and turn the everyday into something extraordinary.

In order to assemble news stories that grab their audience, a young journo will need to more than research and their story they will use their creative and written communication skills to capture the reader.

The Young Creatives Takeover features workshops suggested by and developed with former Young Creatives Awards entrants. All programs are delivered by young people for young people.

This workshop is designed for ages 12-15.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:

JOSEPH HATHAWAY WILSON is a two times winner of the Young Writers Awards 19-24.

He recently graduated with Bachelor of communication from UTS and edited the University magazine Vertigo for two years. Joe has been involved in community radio and is a news cadet in the ABC Sydney newsroom writing and producing radio, digital and television stories.

ABOUT THE VENUE:

MARRICKVILLE PAVILION AND LIBRARY is accessible by lift from both the street and ground levels. The venue is accessible for people using wheelchairs and other mobility aids. There is a hearing loop available.
