In this fun and engaging workshop, you'll learn the resist-technique of batik painting and using dye to create your very own handkerchief design.

Allegorical Threads: Stories of Journeys From Malaysia to Australia

Malasian artist Chang Yoong Chia presents his Sarong Project featuring exquisite custom-made batik fabric depicting the Malasian-Australian migrant experience.

The exhibition is informed by an artist residency in Melville, where Yoong Chia has listened to the experiences of Malaysian diaspora communitiies firsthand.

This workshop is suitable for children aged 8+ years. All materials provided.

Please be advised that children under the age of 13 years are to be accompanied by an adult at this activity.
