Beyond the discharge door: supporting sustainable community reintegration

Community reintegration is a key outcome of rehabilitation, a complex and multi-faceted process.

Hosted by the Kolling Priority Research Area, Neuroscience and Pain with Professor Ashley Craig and presenter Dr John Bourke .

Community reintegration is a key outcome of rehabilitation, however achieving successful community integration is a challenging, complex, and multifaceted process.

In this presentation, Johnny will draw on his research to highlight the complexity involved in successful community reintegration and discuss how addressing this complexity requires systems thinking and co-production research.

Dr Johnny Bourke is a Research Fellow at the John Walsh Centre for Rehabilitation Research. Johnny’s research seeks to understand the complex factors involved in successful community reintegration following injury related disability. A key value of Johnny’s research is partnering with a range of stakeholders to ensure research is relevant to the populations it serves, and is translatable into rehabilitation practice and policy.
