Free Fashion Upcycling Program on Skillshare Saturdays
Tutor Sherlie McMillan

The Upcycling Fashion Program is a part of Skillshare Saturdays, held at the Planetary Health Centre on the first Saturday of each month. We welcome more members of the community who can join us to share their skills.

The Centre is on the lower floor at the Planetary Health Precinct & Parklands (former Katoomba Golf Clubhouse)

33-39 Acacia St Katoomba

There is a growing demand for those who are skilled in clothing alteration as clothes are valued and upcycled rather than discarded.

Sherlie McMillan, from the Rotary Club of Blackheath, is a professional pattern maker and teacher and will be sharing her skills to train community members to help meet this demand.

If you’re interested in upcycling fashion for yourself, or to explore a new income stream, this course will provide you with the skills and support you need to get started.

The Course will provide hands on experience in:

  • Setting up, adjusting and using a sewing machine
  • Handling fabrics
  • Garment fitting and alterations
  • Pattern Development
  • Garment Construction

and a range of other skills!

Sewing machines will be made available, but you are also welcome to bring your own machine.

For more information ring Lis on 0407 437 553 or email planetaryhealth@bmcc.nsw.gov.au

This workshop is part of a Bioregional Collaboration for Planetary Health and is supported by the Disaster Risk Reduction Fund (DRRF). The DRRF is jointly funded by the Australian and New South Wales governments.
