Recording of Narrative Language: From Sentences to Stories

Narrative Language: From Sentences to Stories

Join us for an online workshop designed specifically for speech pathologists seeking to enhance their skills in narrative language therapy for school-aged children. This workshop will guide you through the essential components of narrative language therapy, from understanding language development to implementing successful interventions.

Key Workshop Objectives

1. Develop an understanding of what narrative language is, how narratives develop across childhood, and the key skills children need to understand and produce well-structured stories.

2. Learn how to recognise common narrative language difficulties and understand how these challenges can impact a child’s broader language, literacy, social communication and classroom participation.

3. Explore practical ways to assess narrative abilities, including what to look for when analysing a child’s story structure, vocabulary, sentence formulation, cohesion and use of language.

4. Learn how to translate assessment findings into meaningful, achievable therapy goals that target the specific narrative skills a child needs to develop.

5. Build your toolkit of evidence-informed strategies and activities to support children’s narrative development and confidently incorporate narrative work into your therapy sessions.
